On October 28, Mr. Nguyen Quang Vinh, Vice President of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), hosted a working meeting with a visiting delegation of the U.S. - Vietnam Trade Council led by its Managing Director Trung Trinh. The two sides discussed the establishment of cooperative relations to support the connection of the Vietnamese and United States business communities.
At the meeting, Mr. Trung Trinh briefly introduced the U.S. - Vietnam Trade Council as a bridge for U.S. small and medium companies seeking Vietnamese partners, providing market information, business training, events and workshops. He laid emphasis on legal consulting services, answered needs and consulting information on rules of origin and on FTA rules to reduce difficulties against companies when doing business with foreign partners.
In addition to traditional fields of cooperation between the two countries, he emphasized the development prospects of information technology and high-tech agriculture, and expressed his desire to focus on connecting Vietnamese and U.S. companies.
Agreeing with his recommendations, VCCI Vice President Nguyen Quang Vinh said that VCCI, with a network of more than 200,000 members, carries out a lot of events to promote and support trade, investment, culture, science-technology cooperation and other business activities of Vietnamese and foreign business communities. VCCI also has branches in provinces and cities that can readily help American businesses expand their markets and promote products across Vietnam.
He stressed that, in addition to investment trends in digital transformation and high-tech agriculture, the U.S. - Vietnam Business Council can advise businesses to focus on sustainable development such as renewable energy, clean energy, climate change and circular economy.
VCCI is also a representative body that promotes and protects the interests of the Vietnamese business community in domestic and international (bilateral and multilateral) relations. Therefore, Mr. Vinh noted that VCCI can coordinate with the U.S. - Vietnam Trade Council to carry out business consulting, provide market information and disseminate FTA rules.
With many practical activities for businesses, the two sides will have productive business support cooperation, helping boost their trade and investment cooperation growth goals, he said.
