VCCI Chairman: Supply chain recovery is the foundation for business recovery

The VCCI Chairman affirmed that the recovery of the supply chain will determine the success of Vietnam's economic recovery program.
Today (February 21), the Vietnam Business Forum (VBF) with the theme "Recovery and development of supply chains in the new normal context" held a high-level session.

In particular, on September 26, 2021, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired a nationwide online conference with the business community nationwide organized by VCCI on solutions to continue supporting businesses in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. Through today's forum on behalf of the Vietnamese business community, VCCI Chairman Pham Tan Cong expressed his gratitude to the Party, National Assembly, Government, especially the Prime Minister for having made decisions and directions promptly and decisively to help the economy recover strongly.
“I also thank the business community in Vietnam for their great efforts and resilience to overcome the difficulties caused by the pandemic, contributing to the country's successful response to the pandemic and maintaining business activities” said VCCI Chairman.
Although, some encouraging results have been achieved, the epidemic situation is still complicated, with the Omicron variant entering our country; In recent weeks, the number of Covid cases nationwide has increased sharply. The Prime Minister has directed: "we absolutely must not be negligent or subjective".
Also in his speech, the President of VCCI said that in order to realize the aspiration to turn Vietnam into a developed country by 2045, this year 2022 our goal is full of challenges, with GDP growth targets set from 6% - 6.5% per year. On January 30, 2022 in Resolution No. 11/NQ-CP, the Government issued the Program on socio-economic recovery and development and implemented Resolution No. 43/2022/QH15 of the National Assembly on policies monetary and fiscal support to the program of socio-economic recovery and development. A series of important policy movements have taken place in practice, such as reducing VAT for most items from 10% to 8%, reopening international routes from February 15, 2022.

The international and domestic supply chains are facing the risk of disruption due to the Covid 19 epidemic and unpredictable fluctuations of trade conflicts, natural disaster. The restoration of the supply chain is a fundamental factor for the recovery of business operations, thereby determining the success of Vietnam's economic recovery program, from another perspective, this is also a rare opportunity for businesses in Vietnam to improve their position and role in domestic and international supply chains," said the VCCI Chairman.
Also at this forum, the delegates will discuss solutions to solve medium and long-term problems, including: capacity building of domestic manufacturing and supporting industries; develop clusters of industry links and value chains; strengthen linkages between FDI enterprises and domestic enterprises; improve the quality of infrastructure; sustainable economic development on the basis of digital technology, digital economy and digital government; as well as the implementation of Vietnam's commitment to achieve net zero emissions by 2050 at the recent COP 26.
Today's forum also has the participation of OECD experts on a very important topic, which is the role and responsibility of businesses in developing a stable and sustainable global value chain. We believe that today's constructive, active discussions from the business community and experts will provide useful input to support the Government's successful implementation Vietnam's socio-economic recovery and development program in the coming time.
