During the working session with the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), representatives from the Utah Business Delegation (United States) expressed their desire to further expand investment in the Vietnamese market, particularly in the education sector.

On July 13, the Secretary-General of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Tran Thi Lan Anh, met with the Utah Business Delegation from the United States, led by Mr. Dustin Daugherty, the representative of the World Trade Center Utah (WTC Utah).

During the exchange, Ms. Lan Anh expressed her gratitude to the business delegation for their interest in the Vietnamese market and shared potential collaboration opportunities with Vietnamese enterprises. Fields such as innovation, information technology, education, etc., are all prioritized for development in Vietnam and are also strengths of Utah.

The Secretary-General of VCCI expects that through this visit and working with Vietnamese companies, businesses from both countries will create more cooperation opportunities in areas of mutual interest.

Especially with the upcoming APEC 2023 to be held in San Francisco, where Vietnam, as the chair of ABAC (APEC Business Advisory Council), will participate in ABAC 4 meetings, dialogues between ABAC members and APEC economic leaders, and the APEC CEO Summit 2023.

According to Ms. Lan Anh, VCCI also plans to organize a Vietnamese Business Delegation to survey the market in San Francisco in November. Some proposed programs include the Vietnam-USA Bilateral Business Forum and calling for American investments. VCCI's leadership hopes that Utah will send a representative delegation to attend these important events in Vietnam.

During the working session, Mr. Dustin Daugherty expressed high expectations for future US-Vietnam cooperation, especially in 2023, marking the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the Comprehensive Partnership between Vietnam and the United States.

As per the Utah business delegation, Utah is one of the fastest-growing states in the US, consistently ranking among the top in technology innovation over the past five years.

Moreover, Utah's strengths in high technology and tourism mining are areas with great potential for cooperation with Vietnam. The state is also home to several prominent universities, such as Brigham Young University, the third-largest private university in the United States.

Both sides have discussed ways to further enhance investment from Utah into Vietnam.

The Utah business delegation expressed significant interest in Vietnam's education market, particularly exploring opportunities for collaboration in postgraduate training, vocational training, and English language teaching. Ms. Tran Thi Lan Anh mentioned that Vietnam's education market is open and welcomes more educational representatives from developed countries like the United States in the future.

WTC Utah, a nonprofit organization established in 2006, aims to strengthen Utah's global presence and enhance its international integration. WTC Utah's goal is to support Utah companies in increasing revenue and creating jobs by expanding international trade, attracting foreign investment, and promoting international cooperation.

The United States remains one of Vietnam's largest trading partners. In 2022, Vietnam became the 7th largest trading partner of the United States. Bilateral trade reached around $96 billion, a 20% increase compared to the same period in 2021 (accounting for 17.2% of Vietnam's total import-export turnover with countries, which was $558 billion). Among this, Vietnam's exports reached $85.1 billion, a 23.7% increase (accounting for 30% of Vietnam's total exports in the first nine months of 2022).

In 2023, both parties are organizing numerous meaningful trade cooperation activities to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Comprehensive Partnership establishment. They expect the bilateral trade value to surpass $100 billion for the third time this year.
