At the beginning of the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Tien Quang - Director of VCCI Central - Central Highlands emphasized that the business community of Da Nang in particular, and the Central - Central Highlands region in general, always identify Korea as one of the key markets in investment, trade and tourism cooperation... In 2024, Da Nang attracted 1.68 million Korean visitors, leading the international visitor group, accounting for more than 41% of the total number of international visitors (leading the international visitor market to Da Nang), an increase of more than 40% compared to 2023.

In terms of investment capital, Korea ranks 5th out of 45 countries and territories investing in Da Nang. Up to now, Da Nang has established cooperative relations with 4 localities of Korea including Changwon (1997), Daegu (2004), Hwaseong (2008), Jeju (2023) and effectively implemented many cooperation programs between the two sides. Local cooperation between Da Nang and Korea is also specified from the city level to the district, county, department and branch levels.

At the working session, the two sides had specific exchanges and sharing on the characteristics, business situation, socio-economic development between the two cities and realized that there are many similarities and great room to strengthen the cooperative relationship and develop together in the future. Yongin City has a strong position in the semiconductor industry, and is home to the headquarters and factories of the world's leading semiconductor companies.

The semiconductor industry has been identified as one of the key industries that Da Nang wants to focus on developing in the coming time. Currently, Da Nang is a place with a highly qualified and well-trained human resource, technical infrastructure, and convenient transportation.

In addition, with the attention of the Central Government and the determination of the local government in creating a legal corridor as well as preferential mechanisms to support specific investments in the development of the semiconductor industry and some breakthrough areas for Da Nang to develop rapidly in the coming time.

Mayor Lee Sang-il hopes to strengthen the cooperative relationship between the government and business community of Yongin City with Da Nang City in many fields, especially focusing on the semiconductor industry in which Yongin has strengths. The Mayor of Yongin City proposed that VCCI Central Highlands increase support for business communities in Yongin to connect with the business community in Da Nang and vice versa, the Yongin City government will create conditions for the business community in Da Nang to connect with the business community in Yongin.

The two sides pledged to create favorable conditions for promoting trade and investment activities and supporting business connections.

Mr. Nguyen Tien Quang said that strengthening substantive and effective cooperation between the two most important entities in promoting and implementing trade and investment between the two cities. Reality has proven that the interaction and cooperation between the government and the business community of both sides has brought practical benefits, contributing to the substantive and effective implementation of the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Korea in the coming time.

At the end of the meeting, the two sides pledged to actively coordinate and facilitate information exchange and connection to open up many opportunities in the cooperative relationship between the two sides, creating favorable conditions for promoting trade and investment activities, supporting the connection of Da Nang enterprises in particular, enterprises in the Central region in general with Yongin city in the coming time.
