On February 28, Chairman of VCCI Pham Tan Cong met with Mr. Nguyen Hong Hue (Peter Hong), Chairman of the Association of Vietnamese Entrepreneurs Overseas (BAOOV), who led a delegation to extend Tet greetings. During the meeting, they reported and exchanged views with sponsoring agencies and relevant units to promote the implementation of specific tasks in 2024 and the following years.

During the meeting, Mr. Peter Hong expressed gratitude for the continuous support and assistance from VCCI throughout the association's activities and contributions. He conveyed the desire to further collaborate with VCCI, sharing the aspiration to contribute to the economic development of the country, stating, "the ultimate goal is to make Vietnam prosperous and happy."

Under the guidance and support of VCCI, Mr. Peter Hong mentioned that the association has established numerous businesses in over 40 countries and territories worldwide, playing a crucial role in facilitating trade and economic exchanges between Vietnam and other nations.

During this working session, BAOOV aims to collaborate with VCCI in developing a proposal to the government to mobilize remittances. This is identified as a crucial resource from the Vietnamese diaspora worldwide to contribute to the country's development, with a significant contribution from the global Vietnamese business community.

"We want to build a proposal to submit to the government, with the participation of the State Bank of Vietnam, to have special policies that provide more confident support to our fellow countrymen and contribute to the construction of the country's common programs," stated Mr. Peter Hong.

Additionally, BAOOV leadership also proposed introducing initiatives in collaboration with VCCI to encourage more participation of the diaspora in economic development. For example, organizing various events related to investment issues and promoting trade between Vietnam and countries where the diaspora resides.

"With the strength of having lived for many years in host countries, we understand very well the customs as well as the channels to support businesses in Vietnam. The ultimate goal is not only to foster solidarity and mutual exchange between the two sides but also to aim for the overall unity of overseas Vietnamese entrepreneurs," he emphasized.

Sharing at the event, Chairman of VCCI Pham Tan Cong expressed joy in welcoming the BAOOV delegation to VCCI, with high expectations that the association's development will significantly contribute to building a strong community of Vietnamese entrepreneurs.

Mr. Cong emphasized that one of the most important tasks is to shape the values of entrepreneurs and business values of Vietnamese enterprises, turning them into shared values and distinctive features identifying the Vietnamese business community worldwide.

"At present, we have a very large force of entrepreneurs, with millions of businesspeople. In this context, the business ethics of the entrepreneurial community must be widely disseminated and adhered to in order to generate strength. As Vietnam aims to become a high-income developed country, entrepreneurs and the business community must develop a corresponding business culture, where conducting business cannot be done hastily or through one-sided contracts as in the past," noted the VCCI leader.

Chairman of VCCI Pham Tan Cong expressed confidence in BAOOV's contribution to the country's economic development in the future. He believes that both the domestic and overseas business communities can form a unified bloc to establish a Vietnamese business culture, thereby helping the country achieve its strategic development goals.
