“For a Stronger South East Asia” has been chosen as the official slogan of the 31st Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 31) and the 11th ASEAN Para Games (ASEAN Para Games 11), according to the Viet Nam Sports Administration, under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

The slogan aims to convey a message of uniting and developing a strong ASEAN community, upholding ASEAN's role in the international arena to the governments and peoples of Southeast Asian countries.

Saola, a rare, friendly, flexible, and nimble animal, has been chosen as the mascot of the regional games as it perfectly demonstrates the various characteristics of sporting activities.

Meanwhile, a logo symbolizing a flying bird and a V-shaped hand has been introduced as the official logo for the events.

The 31st SEA Games is set to get underway in Ha Noi and other northern cities and provinces of Bac Ninh, Hai Duong, Hai Phong, Quang Ninh, Ha Nam, Nam Dinh, Ninh Binh, Hoa Binh, Vinh Phuc, Phu Tho and Bac Giang between May 5 and May 23.

This is the second time the event takes place in Viet Nam after the first games back in 2003.

The event has been postponed due to complicated developments of the COVID-19 pandemic. SEA Games 31 and ASEAN Para Games 11 were originally scheduled to take place from November 21 to December 2 last year.

The SEA Games is a biennial multi-sport event involving participants from the current 11 Member States of ASEAN.
