The North and North-Central provinces are forecast to face a period of cold weather on January 17, with lows of four degrees Celsius in mountainous areas while high-altitude locations will be covered in both frost and snow.

The National Center for Hydrometeorological Forecasting stated that a strong cold air mass is forecast to gradually move south, bringing with it plenty of rain to the country’s northern mountains on the evening of January 16, along with a number of places throughout the central and south-central region.

Following this, January 17 will see bitterly cold conditions hit north and northcentral provinces, including the localities of Cao Bang, Bac Kan, Lang Son, Ha Giang, and Lao Cai, with temperatures reaching as low as eight degrees Celsius.

In provinces ranging from Quang Tri to Quang Ngai, along with localities in the south-central and central-highlands region, cold weather will hit, with lows of 14 degrees Celsius, while the northern region will face the strongest cold spell with temperatures dropping to as low as eight degrees Celsius.
