Hanoi to host tourism, culinary fest

Hanoi will host an annual tourism and culinary festival from April 16-18 in the Ly Thai To monument area downtown.
This year's event will include some 200 stalls at the Ly Thai To monument and nearby Le Thach and Le Lai streets displaying tourism products and at Hanoi Children's Palace, showcasing Hanoi food culture.
The former will have stalls put up by 11 provinces, namely Ha Giang, Lai Chau, Dien Bien, Hoa Binh, Thai Nguyen, Tuyen Quang, Phu Tho, Quang Binh, Thua Thien-Hue, Khanh Hoa and Binh Dinh. and Da Nang City.
The festival will feature products from tourism enterprises, tourist attractions across the country and carriers Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet Air, Bamboo Airways, and Vietravel Airlines.
An area to feature Hanoi cuisine will be set up at Children's Palace at 36 Ly Thai To Street in Hoan Kiem District, introducing signature dishes like pho noodle soup, Vietnamese sandwich or banh mi, green rice cakes, egg coffee and West Lake lotus tea.
Visitors can also get to talk to leading culinary experts about Hanoi cuisine.
Dang Huong Giang, director of Hanoi's Tourism Department, said that this year's festival would introduce many new tourism products like a night tour of Thang Long Imperial Citadel, a UNESCO heritage site in Hanoi; a nocturnal tour at Hoa Lo prison, a city tour of Hanoi at night, or agricultural activities at the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology.
During the festival, a conference will be held on the afternoon of April 16 with thousands of tours and new tourism products enjoying discounts of 15 to 35 percent along with vouchers and gifts.
Enterprises and reporters will also get to participate in survey tours of tourism products and services in Hanoi on April 17 and 18.
