The industry and trade sector of Ca Mau province has synchronously and effectively carried out many solutions to support local enterprises to rapidly recover in the post-COVID-19 pandemic period.

Tan Thuan Wind Power Plant launched on April 24, 2022 is expected to promote industrial and trade development of Cau Mau province

Carrying out Plan 38/KH-UBND dated February 22, 2022 of the Provincial People's Committee, Resolution 11/NQ-CP dated January 30, 2022 of the Government on Socioeconomic Recovery and Development Program, and Resolution 43/2022/QH15 of the National Assembly on fiscal and monetary policies on program support in Ca Mau province, the Department of Industry and Trade has actively supported local companies to speed up manufacturing and trading activities to avoid supply chain disruptions, while ensuring strict compliance with COVID-19 pandemic prevention requirements.

Specifically, the department guided them to follow instructions of the Provincial People's Committee on safe, flexible adaptation and effective containment of the COVID-19 pandemic in the new normal as per Decision 1237/QD-UBND dated April 27, 2022. At the same time, it has proposed solutions to support local companies to surmount hardships.

For example, the department worked with PetroVietnam Gas Ca Mau Company and PetroVietnam Power Ca Mau Company on industrial production such as electricity, commercial gas, LPG and condensate in the first six months of 2022 to work out a plan to support them to boost production in the last months of 2022.

In addition, the Department of Industry and Trade worked with the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to ensure a stable source of input materials for manufacturing facilities, especially seafood processors; strengthened business inspection at supermarkets, retail stores, business households and small traders to ensure no shortages or sudden price surges; coordinated with units and localities to ensure smooth distribution of goods to meet production, business and consumption needs of local people.

Moreover, the department facilitated enterprises to launch trade promotions such as promotional programs, trade fairs and exhibitions, trade connections (business conferences on OCOP product networking in Ca Mau province in 2022, in Dong Thap, Hau Giang, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang and other localities); supported to build e-commerce websites for 22 enterprises, cooperatives and producers in Ca Mau province.

For export promotion, the Department of Industry and Trade advised and effectively executed Plan 56/KH-UBND dated March 17, 2022 of the Provincial People's Committee on merchandise export promotion of Ca Mau province in 2022 and Decision 975/QD-UBND dated March 26, 2022 of the Provincial People's Committee on Ca Mau trade, investment, foreign tourism and friendship cooperation promotion program in 2022.

The department provided information and support for businesses attending export consulting sessions and online trade conferences organized by the Ministry of Industry and Trade, including 22 sessions on export consulting to Iran, Hong Kong (China), Nigeria, Japan, South Korea, Turkey, India, Algeria, Switzerland, Germany, ASEAN, Taiwan (China), India, South American Common Market (Mercosur), Australia, New Zealand, Eastern and Western Europe, Kuwait, Canada, RCEP and Africa, as well as 10 online trade conferences between Vietnam and Africa, China, the EU, the US, Japan and RCEP.

The agency also informed enterprises of documents on export markets, trade remedies, free trade agreements and merchandise situations at border gates for their active response to manufacturing and business plans.

The Department of Industry and Trade worked closely with Ca Mau Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (CASEP) to promote its bridging role between seafood processors and exporters and authorities to fully convey business support solutions, information on trade agreements between Vietnam and other countries (like CPTPP, EVFTA and RCEP), and proposed competent authorities to deal with urgent requirements faced by enterprises in production and business activities.
